Signs You Have a Healthy Relationship

Relationships that last a lifetime are not accidental. They result from two people who consciously choose their hearts to take risks required to remain together.

Knowing how a relationship with your partner or boyfriend is going is important. Are you just dating – or did things turn serious? Are you and your partner in tune with each other? Always remember, if you’re dating online, meet the person in person first. Then when things go beyond that, it’s essential to know that both of you need to recognize a healthy relationship.

A healthy relationship may look like the following

You trust your partner, and they trust you. You know that your partner has your best interests at heart. You do not have to worry about whether your partner will keep promises, be faithful, and support you in times of need.

Your partner shows you respect by listening to you, respecting your opinions, and how you choose to live your life. They also treat you with courtesy and kindness.

Mutual respect means that both people are respected as equals in their relationship, no matter their differences. Mutual respect also means that each person tries to understand the other person’s point of view and accepts it as valid and equal to their point of view.

You’re happy with yourself. Your partner should want to see your strengths shine through and be proud of who you are as an individual.

You don’t feel insecure when your partner goes on a date with someone else or spends time with their friends. If anything, it should make you happy because it means they’re out living their lives — and that doesn’t mean they don’t love or value you anymore because they have other interests outside of the relationship too!

Tips for a healthy relationship

Don’t get defensive when your partner expresses their feelings or thoughts. Remember that it’s okay for people to disagree with each other — even in a relationship.

When you both feel understood and validated by the other person, it’s much easier to work through any issues.

Communication is key to any successful relationship, especially regarding conflict resolution. Make sure you speak the same language by understanding emotional intelligence and how it impacts your relationships.

To have a healthy relationship with someone else, you must first love yourself unconditionally — without expectations or conditions. Unconditional love means loving another person no matter what they do or say, thinking about their needs before yours, believing in them when no evidence supports their goodness or worthiness, and forgiveness when mistakes are made because no one is perfect (including you).
