The Covid-19 pandemic has been a constant presence in our lives for years. For better or worse, there is no doubt that it will affect everyone for years to come.

However, the consequences of the pandemic have become apparent, resulting in the public experiencing “pandemic fatigue.” Considering the constant lockdowns, protocols, and random spike of cases–it’s safe to say that many of us would love for the pandemic to be as over as soon as possible. Here are some facts on the condition and how we can cope with it:

What is Pandemic Fatigue?

According to experts, pandemic fatigue is the feeling of exhaustion after exerting time and effort to deal with the new pandemic lifestyle and its struggles. This phenomenon results in feeling demotivated to follow recommended behaviors to follow safety protocols, thus leading to complacency.

For many people, the pandemic has brought several issues and challenges. These significant events can devastate your psyche from the loss of jobs, limited social contact, and having to adjust to new expectations.

To avoid further mental stress, here are some handy tips to help you with pandemic fatigue:

  1. Change your expectations.

Early on in the pandemic, many people used lockdown periods as a time to engage in new goals and activities. People may feel stressed at the expectations, mainly if they haven’t achieved anything worthwhile.

If you feel inadequate, consider taking a deep breath and cutting yourself slack. You are not obliged to be productive every minute of your life. Everybody copes differently, and that’s okay.
